Few people in Chicagoland’s home renovation business are as well known, or as experienced as Bill Conforti. The man has even earned his own honorary Chicago street! After an early start in real estate and property development, Bill recognized the business need for experienced, quality workmanship from his contractors and in 1988 took the bull by the horns and opened Siding 1, following up five years later with Windows 1, as a natural extension of his offerings, meeting his clients demand for quality exterior solutions.
In 1995 he launched Cobblestone Development, working with his extensive network of architects and contractors to develop new homes in the Chicagoland area. In 2009, with the downturn of the economy, Bill migrated from development and launched Cobblestone Remodeling, offering high quality interior and exterior remodeling services to an eager customer base.
Bill always understood the importance of surrounding himself with highly talented & reliable employees, who matched his own high expectations of the work they completed for his clients. His stellar reputation grew and 60% of his new projects were the result of referrals from his very satisfied customer base.
A gifted and successful businessman, Bill’s true strength lies in his ability to develop genuine friendships and positive working relationships with all who are lucky enough to cross his path. Before the term ‘networking’ entered popular vernacular, Bill was ahead of his time, connecting people within his circle of friends and colleagues, reaching out to help & support others, making introductions, offering sage advice and wise counsel to any who sought him out.
It is Bill’s legendary relationship building, coinciding with his personal desire to step back from the day to day management of Cobblestone Remodeling which led to the creation of two new companies & partnerships, Cobblestone Exteriors, led by Ryan Waltz, focused on providing siding, windows, roofing, doors, decks, gutters, fencing, soffit/fascia and hardscape and Cobblestone Interiors, led by Jorge Catrain, specializing in end to end design/build projects, including whole house remodels, additions & dormers, ADU’s – Accessory Dwelling Units, high rise condo rehabs, as well as designing and installing new kitchens & baths.
About Ryan Waltz – Cobblestone Exteriors
Ryan joined Cobblestone Remodeling in 2023 after working for MidTown Home Improvement and Home Vestors, bringing with him not only valuable experience in the home exterior business, but a toolbox full of ideas on how to better serve customers in the market for exterior home renovations. As partner, Ryan has forged positive working relations with our manufacturing vendors, and Cobblestone Exteriors is now a member of the exclusive Preferred Contractor Alliance with James Hardie, has earned an educational certificate from Azek TimberTech University and is Marvin Window certified.
Ryan values transparency in all of his customer relationships, and provides his customers access to his internal Job Tracking system, allowing them access to follow the progress and all key dates of their projects. Clearly identifying expectations and deliverables before their projects begin, his Cobblestone Exteriors customer base are consistently delighted when the finished product looks just like their proposal pictures, resulting in favorable reviews & referrals.
About Jorge Catrain – Cobblestone Interiors
Jorge a licensed architect with ten years of experience in Interior Design & Build impressed Bill early on as they worked together on development & renovation projects. As a licensed architect, Jorge’s ability to effectively plan and manage large scale projects on target, on time and with the highest caliber of design, quality and pride in his work were the exact skillset Bill was looking for in his Cobblestone Interiors partner. Jorge assumed the role of partner in June 2025, leading the Interiors LLC, and has already completed several Interior remodels.
With years of solid interior design & build experience in Chicago under his belt, Jorge and his team of architects and project managers have established positive working relationships with the City, in securing building permits, and lining up timely city inspections. After working in many Chicago high rises they are well versed in the challenges of high rise condo renovations, working within the time & physical space constraints of elevator & dumpster access, as well as adhering to the unique rules & regulations of each building’s HOA and board. Jorge and his team embrace the challenge and design opportunity of whole house remodels, and the possibility of turning something bad into a living space and home that his clients will enjoy for years.
